One of Charlotte’s greatest learning centers in the heart of Uptown, Discovery Place offers premiere hands-on science and
technology exhibits. Students will explore and engage through a variety of activities and displays.
NASCAR Hall of Fame
Experience the power and excitement of a favorite sport by learning more about the auto technology and famous NASCAR racers. You can even put yourself in the driver’s seat. This attraction has a boxed lunch option, making it perfect for customized group planning.
DAY 2
U.S. National Whitewater Center
This outdoor adventure park was built for the US Olympic kayaking trials. It includes a ropes course, MegaZip line, rafting, rock climbing and mountain biking. The perfect adventure place, encouraging groups to get active together.
Reed Gold Mine
This state historic site was the first documented gold find in the US, and now you can feel the excitement as you pan for gold and tour the underground tunnels. Day 3:
Charlotte Motor Speedway
It’s the center of NASCAR action. Visit the track for a behind the scenes tour of pit road, victory
circle and the race garages. Students even get a chance behind the wheel.
Bechtler Museum of Modern Art
This unique collection was gathered by the Swiss-American Bechtler family over generations. The museum is located in the new Levine Center for the Arts and offers guided tours with a variety of focus.
Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture
This museum is impressive in its architecture and its exhibits, displaying work by prominent African-American artists like Romare Bearden and Jacob Lawrence.
Carowinds
This exciting theme park straddles the North and South Carolina border with more than 50 world-class rides, including 13 roller coasters. You can also include Boomerang Bay water park or a concert in the Paladium Amphitheatre.
